General Motors wants to end sales of gas and diesel engine vehicles by 2035 as part of a broader pledge to become carbon neutral by 2040. Nissan recently established a similar program.
According to GM, the goal of achieving carbon neutrality inevitably passes through its line of automobiles worldwide. To decarbonize its portfolio, GM will make a transition to electric vehicles, batteries, or other zero-emission vehicle technology.
GM said it is working with the Environmental Defense Fund to achieve its goals.
